Modern leather is high quality and very resilient to the wear and tear that every car goes through on a day to day basis, that being said most leather seats get worn and fade in time, with modern products and techniques we can completely restore the cars leather to what it would have been coming out of the factory.
The most common issues we see are to do with the drivers seat as this seats gets the most use, the drivers bolster and seat back get worn and faded, but even seats that have more severe damage can in most cases be repaired to such an extent that you would never know that there was a problem in the first place.
We have an example here of the seats from a BMW Z4 M that at some time had been very poorly repaired and re coloured.
The first step in any repair is to make sure that the correct colour is available, for this we use products from Colourlock, if they don't already have the colour is stock a small sample of the cars leather and they will match the colour for us exactly.
As you can see we have removed the seats from the car to aid the repair process, the first step is to thoroughly clean the leather, the issue with these particular seats is that the colour is simply coming away from the leather when the seats get wet, because of this we had to remove all the old colour to make sure that the re colour would be up to our standards, once all the old colour had been removed we could get on with the seats re colouring process, after a thorough cleaning and keying and priming process we could start the re colouring.
We do this with a small air brush compressor, this allows us to get a very even and professional finish to the cars leather, once dry the leather can be sealed to keep them looking their best for years to come.
